For Those Arriving by Motorhome

Arriving in Båstad and on the Bjäre peninsula by motorhome, camper or caravan? Then you'll probably need a pitch. With a proper pitch you know it's done right, that there's service and that you can sleep soundly in peace and quiet. Enjoy nature for exactly as long as you like, then roll on towards new adventures. There are plenty of motorhome and caravan pitches in Båstad and on the Bjäre peninsula, but remember to book ahead in high season.

Lögnäs gård: 30 pitches with electricity

Prästliden in Båstad: 24-hour paid parking for motorhomes is permitted. No electricity or toilets

Båstad Hamn: Open from 1 September to 31 May. There are no reserved spaces just for motorhomes; you park where there's room. You pay for your stay via a QR code on the power posts. You then get a code valid for the products you've bought. You can also empty your toilet cassette, which you do at the edge of the large pier house.

Ramsjöstrands Hamn: Parking a motorhome between 00:00 and 06:00 is not permitted, per a decision by the County Administrative Board.

Åkagårdens Golfklubb: For SEK 100 per night, green-fee guests get access to a limited number of pitches with electricity, our restaurant and changing rooms

"The foot of Hallandsåsen": Hålevägen 52, 269 73 Förslöv, opposite Ekhem's farm. About 25 pitches, no service but you can empty the toilet cassette. Costs SEK 50/day (100 in high season). Pay by Swish to 0709–170615, Gullan and Sven Ekhem.

Parking up
You may temporarily park a motor vehicle right next to the road, but only provided the ground isn't damaged. The landowner must also not be hindered in their activities. Nor may you park your motorhome or caravan so that you obstruct or disturb traffic.

There's no rule stating how long you can stay parked in the same spot. For tents, the limit is "a single day or two" and well away from dwellings. A caravan or motorhome is probably perceived as more disturbing than a tent, and the requirement for consideration is greater too. You should therefore not park your caravan or motorhome near the landowner's home without permission.

On public roads
At rest areas and signposted car parks, you're generally allowed to stay a maximum of 24 hours on weekdays. On Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays you may usually stay until the next weekday. But rest areas and car parks are mainly intended for temporary rest, not for overnight stays. Other rules may apply there under local traffic regulations, indicated in that case on a supplementary sign below the P sign at the rest areas.

Private roads
Whoever owns a private road may decide whether traffic with motor vehicles is allowed. The owner has the right to prohibit motor traffic, or a certain type of motor vehicle. A ban on motor traffic on a private road must be "marked with a road sign or in another clear way", as stated in the Traffic Ordinance. Even a homemade sign "No motorhomes" must be respected.

In Sweden you may park your motorhome for 24 hours (on weekdays, otherwise over a weekend) in a car park and stay overnight in it, unless a sign says otherwise. Parking is not the same as camping — which means, for example, rolling out the awning and setting out a comfy chair at sunset — so that is not permitted in a car park.

Special rules in national parks and nature reserves
Special rules apply in national parks and nature reserves. It's nearly always forbidden to drive motor vehicles on roads within the area. It may be permitted to stay overnight with a caravan or motorhome in car parks adjacent to reserves or national parks. Inside the areas, special provisions apply that usually restrict the Right of Public Access. What applies is shown on the notice boards posted at the area. Otherwise you can get information from the municipality or the County Administrative Board.
