Family Activities in Any Weather

What can you do with children in Båstad and on the Bjäre peninsula? We know. In fact, we know what to do in every season and every kind of weather. Here's the list of things to do with kids for different starting points.

Starting point:
Summer, sun and warmth. A parent tired of the nagging and of everything costing money.

Solution:
Take the kids to a beach where there's no ice cream to nag about. Pack what you need (snacks and drinks plus sand toys) and explain the situation on the way there. That is, there's nothing here but the beach itself. A perfect beach for this outing is Glimminge Plantering on the south side of the Bjäre peninsula. There's both a sandy beach and a jetty, plus a raft to swim out to. Shallow far out and pleasant, and no kiosk either.

Starting point:
Spring, restless legs and a longing for nature in both adult and child.

Solution:
The Axelstorp ravine is a perfect little hiking adventure for all ages. It's especially lovely when the beech woods have just come into leaf in early May. Steep and a little scary (and therefore exciting), with bridges and rushing water.

Starting point:
So-so summer weather and kids climbing the walls.

Solution:
Kungsbyggets äventyrspark with a summer toboggan run, zipline, cycling and other fun. Open during the summer half of the year and a perfect half-day outing half an hour to the east. Even small children can ride the toboggan, then with an adult, and often find it wildly fun.
Disc golf and adventure golf are fun activities that suit all ages!

Starting point:
Overcast, with relatives in tow, many ages and many wills.

Solution:
Norrvikens trädgårdar is a perfect outing when you need to entertain both Grandma and toddlers at once. Children love running around the paths, hiding and watching the peacocks. And the children have their own part of the garden (furthest from the entrance, no less) that you can aim for.

Starting point:
Summer, pouring rain and total panic in too small a house.

Solution:
Scala Biografen i Båstad has a solid programme and, if you're lucky, there's a children's film on today. If not, we can suggest Malenbadet, which is an extra fun experience when it rains — plus the pool tends to be fairly empty then. The sauna afterwards is a lovely bonus. One last indoor tip is BMX-banan i Våxtorp which is indoors and fun for many ages.

Starting point:
Winter and frozen over.

Solution:
You'll find ice on Lake Klarningen by the E6, or on the pond by Inre Kustvägen. An ice rink is often flooded at Strandängsskolan too. On with the skates, or at least a helmet, and out to slide around on the slippery ice!

Ready for adventure and a full-day outing

Solution:
Hallands Väderö is the obvious idea. Just the boat trip out there is thrilling. You might even spot a seal! Once on the island it's just-right-length hikes, cliffs and beaches and clear, beautiful water.
